Easter Weekend Wrap Up
April 13, 2009What an incredible, amazing, awesome, humbling, celeabatory Holy weekend! It all began on Friday with personal
devotions and reflections of the cross event and how it has impacted my life not just as a Christ Follower but also my life as a whole.
Friday evening, I had the opportunity, honor and privilege to preach the Good Friday message at my home church, First Baptist Church Canton during the Good Friday service, where we also took part in communion. WOW! Talk about a surreal moment in my life. It’s still difficult to find the words to even explain how much the opportunity means to me but I was truly humbled and truly honored to have such an opportunity to speak for God! This church means so very much to me and has been so very supportive to my wife and I and I believe I described the event to my wife by saying that “This is my Emmy moment.”
We had just over 200 people come out on Friday night! The Quartet sang one of my favorite songs “The Cross” which was originally done by The Crabb Family.
Granted it was not/is not about me, not in the least. I’ve been blessed to be able to participate in some pretty cool things in my 14 years as a pastor, but for me this was one of those moments in time that will forever leave an indelible impression on my mind.
A very special “Thank You” to everyone at First Baptist Church Canton for their continued love and support.
Saturday was a time to relax and continue to reflect on the cross event but also to look forward to the resurrection.
Quite honestly, we can’t get to Easter Sunday without the cross event of Good Friday.
Sunday was a day of celebration and praise at the awesomness of Almighty God for all that He has done, is doing and continues to do; for providing our eternal salvation through His one and only son Jesus! Awesome service!
My wife and I exchanged Easter gifts early Sunday morning. In the spirit of having fun and being silly, we put the gifts out as though the “Easter Bunny” had come and left them. While we did not color actual Easter eggs this year, my wife, using her God given, artistic ability, created a dozen colored Easter eggs on the computer, complete with words and graphics and then hid them all over the house for me to find; how awesome! Is it any wonder I love her so?
We spent the later part of Sunday afternoon visiting with and having dinner with some members of our church family and most definitely had a great time of food, fun and fellowship!
Over all just an incredible weekend with so many blessings, surprises and good gifts from God!
